In a recent edition of the Debrief Podcast, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Real Madrid are serious contenders to land Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. Romano said,
“Now, it is also true, from what I am told that Real Madrid have a concrete interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold.
“They are monitoring his situation. At the moment there is no direct contact with his agent or with the player because it is still too early. So Real Madrid are closely following the situation.
“Let’s see the next steps. At the moment, from what I am hearing, there is no concrete negotiation between Liverpool and Trent Alexander-Arnold. That is why Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the situation.”
Alexander-Arnold’s Lack Of Consistency In Premier League Football This Season
Alexander-Arnold is having an inconsistent campaign at the Merseyside club as he has often been vulnerable defensively for them in the Premier League. The 25-year-old has registered three goals and earned nine assists in 36 matches for the Reds this season on all fronts.
The Liverpool-born talent deserves some credit for averaging 1.3 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.6 clearances, 1.6 shots, 2.3 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in the English top-flight. He has even distributed the ball relatively well from the right flank after making 79.1% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Is Alexander-Arnold A Good Option For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Alexander-Arnold is a good tackler of the ball and can make the odd interception for his team when he is playing with confidence on the field. He usually clears the danger when he can but needs to work on becoming a better defender inside his half.
The England international has proven himself to be an excellent passer of the ball and is a specialist in dead-ball situations. He can strike the ball with accuracy and a lot of venom from long range and is a strong dribbler with the ball.
We can expect Alexander-Arnold to enhance the quality of Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s first team. He has what it takes to help Los Blancos challenge for even more major silverware over the next few years. At 25, Alexander-Arnold will enter his prime soon which makes him a brilliant option for the Madrid giants to consider later this summer.
