Slated to kick off on 14 June, the 2024 UEFA Euro Finals are once again expected to attract a massive international crowd. Fans and players alike are therefore already beginning to gear up for what is in store. Let’s therefore take a look at a breakdown of each group as well as which teams will be participating.
Group A
Here are the following teams competing in Group A of the UEFA Euro 2024:
- Switzerland
- Germany
- Hungary
- Scotland
The winner of this group will then compete against the winner of Group D.
Group B
Group B consists of teams from Spain, Italy, Albania, and Croatia. Many are keeping a close eye on Spain, as this club is still one of the favourites to walk away with the 2024 title. The winner from this group will thereafter compete on the pitch with the Group E team that emerges victorious.
Group C
This EURO 2024 group stage is home to Slovenia, England, Serbia, and Denmark. While each club is certain to make a strong showing, all eyes will nonetheless be on England. Serbia and England will be facing off on 16 June and although England is favoured to win, only time will tell.
Group D
The Netherlands, Austria, Poland and France round out the teams found within Group D. As mentioned previously, the winner of this group will then play against the winner from Group A. Some experts feel that France may be able to rise to the occasion although this is far from certain at the moment. All in all, they were crowned World Champions in 2018 and they lost in the final against Argentina in 2022.
Group E
Group E is currently home to players from Belgium, Slovakia, Ukraine and Romania. Most believe that Belgium is the clear favourite at the moment, as they are placed third in FIFA rankings at the moment. This is due in no small part to the formidable presence of Kevin de Bruyne on the pitch, but the absence of Thibaut Courtois could put them in a difficult place at the goal. Belgium could therefore be facing off against the top team from Group B.
Group F
Turkey, Portugal, Georgia and the Czech Republic round out the teams found within Group F. It should not be a shock to learn that Portugal is favoured to take the lead in this group thanks in large part to Cristiano Ronaldo. In fact, Ronaldo has scored in no fewer than six out of nine games during the 2024 Euro qualifications. Let’s also not fail to mention that he is also the top scorer of all time (currently holding no fewer than 128 goals). 22 of these occurred during top-tier tournaments, so we should expect more of the same during the UEFA Euro 2024.
The good news is that fans will not have long to wait before this world-renowned competition takes place. Which team will eventually walk away the winner? Although opinions currently abound, there are no certainties within the world of professional football.
