In a recent report, UOL mentioned that Real Madrid are among the clubs hoping to land Palmeiras winger Estevao Willian. It is believed that Los Blancos could face competition in the form of Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona in the race to land the Brazilian youngster this summer.
Estevao’s Recent Rise In Brazilian Football
Estevao has come through the youth ranks of Palmeiras and has done well to prove his worth as a first-team starter for them recently. The Brazilian prospect has already made 13 senior appearances for the Brazilian outfit so far, netting two goals and grabbing one assist in the process on all fronts.
The 17-year-old has caught the eye at times in the final third by averaging 1.3 shots and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Brasileirao. He has even distributed possession relatively well in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 76.3% in the top tier of Brazilian football (stats via whoscored).
Estevao is under contract at the Brazilian club until the summer of 2026 which could make it tough for Los Blancos to get a deal done for him on the cheap at the end of this campaign.
Real Madrid Are Among The Clubs Hoping To Land Estevao: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Estevao is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball out on the flanks. He can shoot the ball with power and accuracy from long range. The Brazilian teenager is a technically gifted footballer who mainly operates on the right wing but can also play in the number ten position or as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so by his manager.
At 17, there is no denying that Estevao is a prospect to watch out for in the future. Hence, Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti would be wise to try everything in his power to get him on board in the upcoming transfer window.
However, Estevao is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to prove his worth in Spain if Los Blancos manage to snap him up before the start of the new campaign.
