Manchester United keeper Joel Pereira has expressed his happiness for being a part of Jose Mourinho’s plans. The Portuguese recalled him from his loan spell at Belenenses.
Pereira is right now the third choice keeper behind David de Gea and Sergio Romero after United decided to loan Sam Johnstone to Championship side Aston Villa.
The 20-year-old spent the first half on loan at Primeira League side Belenenses. Pereira made eight appearances for the Portuguese side and has kept three of their six clean sheets.
He was in the reserves when United brushed aside Reading in the FA Cup. It will be tough for him to nail a first team spot unless an injury to De Gea or Romero, but he remained positive.
He said, “It’s good to be considered a first-team player now and I’m training every day with the first team and in the changing room with them.
“I think it’s very good for me and my development too. I get to work with world-class players as well. We have amazing strikers who are very good finishers so, of course, it is very good for me and I learn a lot every day.”
