As Manchester United are busy working on plans to strengthen their squad for next season, they have identified Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo as a viable target. The former Premier League club want to add him to their ranks in the summer to fill the gaps in the defensive unit, as reported by Caught offside.
Tosin Adarabioyo has proved himself in the English league
After falling out of schemes at Manchester City, Tosin Adarabioyo was signed by Fulham in 2020. It took some time before the player started proving himself. Today, he is a reliable name on the team sheet and is one of the solid performers in the league.
The English centre-back has featured in 25 games this season, netting twice. He is averaging 1.2 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, and 4.5 clearances per game (stats via whoscored). He is a physically strong and tall guy, which makes him an ideal pick in the Premier League.
Adarabioyo is good at winning aerial duels and blocking shots from going into the goal. He likes to play long passes and often clears the ball out of defence. His passing accuracy is also good, allowing the side to build play from the back.
Manchester United should go for Tosin Adarabioyo
Interestingly, Tosin Adarabioyo’s contract with Fulham expires at the end of the season and he has denied signing a new one. He has made up his mind to try a different challenge and will walk out of the club as a free agent in the summer.
The situation has caught the attention of Manchester United and they want to capitalize on it. The Red Devils have suffered in the defensive line this season due to injuries and other reasons. With uncertainty over the future of multiple defenders, they must lock in a few deals to enhance the depth of the squad.
The acquisition of Adarabioyo would be a great move as the player will come for free. He is just 26 years old, means he can serve the club for many years to come. However, Newcastle United are also pushing hard to get the signature of the quality defender.
