In a recent report, Estadio Deportivo stated that West Ham United are in the running for Real Betis defender Juan Miranda. It has been claimed that the Hammers are showing interest in recruiting the Spanish full-back in the summer.
Miranda’s Decent Run Of Form In La Liga
Miranda is enjoying a solid campaign at the Spanish club as he has put in a series of impressive displays on the left side of Real Betis’ backline. The Spanish talent has made 28 appearances for Real Betis this season, netting two goals and picking up two assists in multiple competitions.
The 24-year-old has caught the eye at times on the left flank based on his average of 1.5 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 2.3 clearances and 0.9 key passes per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has also been tidy when distributing possession after making 82.2% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Real Betis will run out at the end of this campaign which could give West Ham a chance to land him on a free transfer later this summer.
Should West Ham United Move In For Miranda This Summer?
Miranda is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his side inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when required and can even set up a few inviting chances for his teammates from the left flank. Miranda is primarily a left-back but can also fill in as a centre-back if asked to do so.
We can expect the Spaniard to enhance the quality of West Ham‘s backline. He has got the skillset and experience to be a real asset at the London Stadium in the coming seasons. At 24, Miranda has got his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent option for the Hammers to consider later this year.
Furthermore, the Spanish sensation is on an expiring contract and will be available as a free agent soon. Therefore, it makes sense for West Ham to move in for him in the summer as he is good enough to help them compete across all fronts in the upcoming campaign.
