In a recent tweet, Spanish journalist Gerard Romero claimed that Barcelona have met with the agent of Red Bull Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo. It is understood that Barca sporting director Deco has met with the Spanish talent’s father and agent over a potential move in the summer.
Olmo’s Good Run Of Form In Bundesliga
Olmo is having a decent campaign at the Red Bull Arena after putting in a handful of impressive displays for Leipzig in the final third. The Spaniard has been involved in 22 matches for the German outfit this season, scoring eight goals and earning five assists on all fronts.
The 25-year-old has been a consistent performer in the opponent’s half as he is averaging 2.1 shots, 1.3 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game in Bundesliga. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball up top based on his pass completion rate of 79.8% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club will expire in the summer of 2027 which would make it difficult for the Catalan club to sign him on the cheap later this year.
Is Olmo A Decent Choice For Barcelona?
Olmo is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can generate a lot of power with his shot attempts from long range. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates on the offensive end of the field.
The Spanish sensation mainly functions as an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a wide player on either flank if told to do so. However, there are some concerns over whether he can maintain his good form in Spain if Barcelona can get him on board at the end of this campaign.
Olmo would add more quality and depth to the Catalan club’s frontline. Thus, it makes sense for Barca to move in for him in the upcoming transfer window. At 25, Olmo has his best years ahead of him which makes him a great choice for the Catalan giants to consider in the summer. He might even help Barca compete for some major trophies over the next few years. Thus, the Spanish outfit should focus on recruiting him soon.
