In a recent report, Globo Esporte stated that Manchester City are monitoring Sport Recife defender Pedro Lima. It has been claimed that the Mancunian club would have to rival Liverpool and Chelsea in the race to land the Brazilian teenager.
Lima’s Recent Rise In Brazilian Football
Lima has come through the youth ranks of the Brazilian club and deserves credit for breaking out as a first-team starter for them recently. The 17-year-old has already made 13 senior appearances for Sport Recife so far, finding the back of the net on two occasions and grabbing one assist in the process across all fronts.
The Cabedelo-born talent has caught the eye with his performances back in his homeland. Lima is one of the most promising young players in Brazilian football right now, so Man City would do well to snap him up later this year.
His current deal at Sport Recife will run out at the end of 2027. Therefore, the Mancunian club need to make a big offer if they want to win the race for his services.
Manchester City Are Monitoring Lima: Is He A Star In The Making?
Lima is a tough-tackling full-back who can read the danger well to make some important interceptions for his team when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. He usually clears his lines when required and is a decent dribbler with the ball.
The Brazilian starlet can create the odd chance for his teammates from the right flank. Lima can also shoot the ball with power from long range but needs to work on improving his decision-making in the final third. He is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to prove his worth in top-flight football.
At 17, there is no denying that Lima is a star in the making. Hence, Man City boss Pep Guardiola would be wise to bring him to England as he has the potential to become a future star at the Etihad Stadium. However, Lima is still quite raw and might need time to adjust to life in Manchester if Guardiola can get a deal done for him at the end of this campaign.
