Liverpool will shift their focus to the Europa League as they face Atalanta in the quarter-final round this week. They dropped two vital points against Manchester United in their previous game. The draw has made the race for the Premier League title more interesting.
The Reds are second in the points table with 71 points after 31 rounds of play. The goal difference factor is keeping Arsenal ahead in the tie. It also means that Jurgen Klopp’s men will depend upon the Gunners’ result while they should keep winning their fixtures.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup Vs Atalanta
Defence
Caoimhin Kelleher remains the man with the gloves for Liverpool in the absence of Alisson Becker, who continues to be sidelined due to a thigh injury. Conor Bradley is likely to get the much needed rest, meaning Joe Gomez starts as the right-back.
While Virgil van Dijk continues to operate as the centre-back and be the leader of the defensive line, expect Ibrahima Konate to walk into the XI, in place of Jarell Quansah. The latter defender made a silly mistake against Manchester United, which costed his side hugely. No threats to left full-back Andrew Robertson’s spot in the side.
Midfield
No reason for boss Jurgen Klopp to change anything in the midfield trio of Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister. Curtis Jones has regained full fitness but only to come off the bench in the second half if needed.
Attack
Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz are operating on the flanks once again. However, the German manager will have the dilemma of choosing between Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez for the striker position.
Joel Matip (knee), Ben Doak (knee), Thiago Alcantara (muscle), Diogo Jota (knee) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (knee) are the confirmed absentees for the Reds. Stefan Bajcetic, on the other hand, has returned from injury but is unlikely to be used for this clash.
