Liverpool entertained Sheffield United at Anfield earlier tonight as they looked to secure a good result at home in the Premier League. The Reds made a strong start to the game and scored the opening goal in the 17th minute when Darwin Nunez got his name on the scoresheet. Jurgen Klopp‘s men went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.
Conor Bradley scored an unfortunate own goal in the 58th minute which made the scoreline level between the two teams. However, Alexis Mac Allister came to Liverpool’s rescue as he scored with a stunning strike from outside the penalty box in the 76th minute. Cody Gakpo added another goal with a good header in the 90th minute as the Reds earned a hard-fought 3-1 win in front of their home fans.

GK: Caoimhin Kelleher – 6.5/10
Kelleher made a couple of solid saves at the back but couldn’t do much about Bradley’s own goal in the second half.
RB: Conor Bradley – 6/10
He scored an unfortunate own goal in the 58th minute. Bradley was solid otherwise but struggled to influence the game going forward.
CB: Ibrahima Konate – 7/10
Konate snuffed out the danger when needed and did enough to limit the opposition to just one goal.
CB: Virgil Van Dijk – 6.5/10
He kept things solid when defending inside his half and went close to scoring with his header in the second half.
LB: Joe Gomez – 6.5/10
He was solid when defending at the back and made two decent chances in the final third.
CM: Dominik Szoboszlai – 7/10
The Hungary international was a positive influence in both halves and managed to engineer a few promising chances for others around him.
CM: Alexis Mac Allister – 8.5/10
Mac Allister anchored the midfield with conviction and ran the show in the opponent’s half. He scored his team’s second goal with a great strike in the 76th minute.
CM: Ryan Gravenberch – 6.5/10
He got himself into some dangerous areas in the final third but was wasteful in front of goal.
RW: Mohamed Salah – 6.5/10
Salah caused a few headaches for the Sheffield defenders but didn’t do enough to register a goal.
ST: Darwin Nunez – 7.5/10
Nunez chased the Sheffield keeper down and got rewarded with a goal in the 17th minute. He was a real menace up top.
LW: Luis Diaz – 7.5/10
He created a lot of decent chances for his teammates and has got an assist to show for his efforts.
Substitutes:
LB: Andy Robertson – 7/10
Robertson whipped in some dangerous crosses from the left flank and managed to set up Gakpo’s goal with a great pass.
CM: Harvey Elliott – 7/10
He added some creativity to Klopp’s midfield.
CM: Curtis Jones – 6.5/10
Jones was good on the ball.
ST: Cody Gakpo – 7/10
He scored with a decent header in the 90th minute.
