In a recent report, TuttoJuve mentioned that Everton are in the running to recruit Juventus winger Samuel Iling-Junior this summer. It has been revealed that the Toffees could face competition from Brighton and Hove Albion, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign the English wide player later this year.
Iling-Junior’s Recent Form In Italian Football
Iling-Junior has struggled to secure a regular starting spot at the Allianz Stadium this season but has managed to put in a few eye-catching displays for Juve in the final third. The English talent has found the back of the net once and earned two assists in 20 matches for Juve during this campaign in various competitions.
The 20-year-old has made most of his appearances off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 0.4 shots, 0.6 key passes and 0.1 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has distributed possession accurately in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 78.9% in the Italian top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Turin club will expire at the end of next season which could open the door for the Toffees to snap him up on the cheap later this summer.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Go For Iling-Junior?
Iling-Junior is a decent dribbler with the ball and can make a few driving runs with the ball when he is playing regularly on the pitch. He can shoot the ball well from long range and can create the odd chance for his teammates up top.
The London-born sensation is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also function as a right-winger if told to do so by his manager. We can expect Iling-Junior to bring more firepower to Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s attack.
The English sensation is good enough to compete with Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a regular starting spot at the Merseyside club. Thus, it makes sense for the Toffees to go for Iling-Junior in the summer transfer window.
At 20, the Juventus starlet has got the potential to become a future star at the highest level. However, Dyche would have to be patient with his progress before he can unlock the best out of the youngster at Goodison Park in the coming seasons.
