In a recent report, Mirror Sport claimed that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Red Bull Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko this summer. It has been mentioned that the Gunners are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Slovenian centre-forward at the end of this campaign.
Sesko’s Impressive Numbers In German Football
Sesko is enjoying a decent campaign at the German club as he has been responsible for putting in a handful of eye-catching displays in the final third. The 20-year-old has banged in 11 goals and grabbed two assists in 34 appearances for RB Leipzig this season in all competitions.
The Radece-born talent has led the line well and deserves some credit for averaging 1.3 shots, 0.3 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. However, he has lacked quality when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after making 66.7% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2028. Therefore, the Gunners would have to make a good offer if they are serious about recruiting him later this year.
What Will Sesko Add To Arsenal Head Coach Mikel Arteta’s Team?
Sesko excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer some promising chances for his teammates on the offensive end of the field.
The Slovenian attacker can make some clever runs with the ball as well when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. Standing at 1.95m, he can even use his robust frame to hold the ball up for his team up top but needs to work on improving his link-up play deep inside the opponent’s half.
Sesko has what it takes to serve as an important member of Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s match-day squad next season. At 20, he has the potential to become a future star at the highest level. We can expect Sesko to add more firepower to the North London club‘s attack.
The Slovenia international is good enough to help the Gunners compete across all fronts in the coming years. Thus, it makes sense for Arteta to try and get him on board when the transfer window commences at the end of this season.
