In a recent report, Football.London stated that Tottenham Hotspur were interested in Udinese wide player Festy Ebosele. It has been stated that Spurs are keen on recruiting the Irish talent in the summer transfer window.
Ebosele’s Impressive Form In Italian Football
Ebosele is having a decent campaign at the Italian club but has struggled to be productive for them on the right flank. The 21-year-old has featured in 28 matches for Udinese this season, picking up one assist in multiple competitions.
The Irish sensation has done well to average 1.2 tackles, 0.7 clearances, 0.6 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per game in Serie A. However, he has lacked quality when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after making 70.6% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Ebosele is under contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2027 which could make it tough for Spurs to sign him on a cut-price deal in the upcoming transfer window.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Go For Ebosele?
Ebosele usually works hard for his team defensively and can make some driving runs with the ball when he is playing with confidence on the field. He has got the vision to orchestrate a few promising chances for others around him in the final third and can shoot the ball with venom from long range.
The Irish sensation is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also fill in as a right-back or as a left-back if needed. We can expect him to inject more quality and depth into Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s midfield.
Ebosele would be a great acquisition for the North London club ahead of the new campaign. At 21, the future looks quite bright for the Irish youngster as long as he continues to improve with each year.
However, there are some concerns over whether Ebosele can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if Spurs can find a way to bring him on board in the summer. Still, there is no denying that the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting someone with Ebosele’s skillset, so Postecoglu would be wise to go for him later this year.
