Premier League club Manchester City are monitoring Francesco Camarda’s situation at AC Milan. They are interested in sealing a deal for the emerging star, who is rated highly in Italian football and could be the next superstar of the game.
Francesco Camarda is a world-record holder
Francesco Camarda etched his name into the history books when he made his Serie A debut in November. He became the youngest player ever to play in the Italian league. He was aged just 15 years and 260 days at that time.
For AC Milan’s youth sides, the 16-year-old has netted 12 goals and provided two assists in 31 games this season. His immense potential and effectiveness in the final third have attracted interest from the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal.
Camarda is already a regular starter for Italy’s Under-17s. He was expected to sign his first professional contract with Milan once he turned 16, but he hasn’t. Reports say that both parties have a principal agreement of three years in place.
How can Manchester City pull this signing?
AC Milan are waiting for the end of the season to make Francesco Camarda sign the contract. It will allow the Italian club to keep the player until 2027 rather than 2026. However, the player’s agent, Giuseppe Riso, has a cold relationship with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is likely to take a vital role in the club.
This leaves room for other clubs to exploit, and Manchester City are planning to take advantage of the situation. As per the rules, Camarda cannot move to the Premier League until he is 18. Hence, the Citizens are looking to use the Italian side, Palermo, which is also owned by City Group.
The Italian wing will sign the player and groom him until he becomes eligible to participate in the English league. On the other hand, Manchester United‘s INEOS have no presence in the Italian league. Hence, City ahead of the competitors in this race.
