In a recent interview with Football League World, pundit Carlton Palmer offered an update on Everton and their pursuit of Blackpool youngster Karamoko Dembele, who is currently playing on loan from Stade Brestois. Palmer said,
“Karamoko Dembele is attracting a lot of interest. He is on loan at Blackpool which has seen the 21-year-old excel, he has been in superb form for Blackpool this season. He has contributed to 19 goals across all competitions.
“This has brought him to the attention of West Ham and Everton, who are looking at the player. It will be interesting to see if they can make a deal with his present club to get him out. With his age at 21, he could be a possible top-flight player.
“Maybe a Leeds or a Leicester would be more appealing to a player in terms of him getting more game time. If he went to Everton or West Ham, he would be more of a squad player.
“It will be interesting to see what happens with him. He has done really, really well, and at the age of 21 I think he would look to go to a club perhaps like Leeds or Leicester where he will be guaranteed more game time if he moves.”
Dembele’s Impressive Loan Spell At Bloomfield Road
Dembele is having a great loan spell at Blackpool and deserves credit for putting in his fair share of productive displays for them in the final third. The 21-year-old has taken part in 40 matches for the English club thus far, scoring seven goals and picking up 12 assists in various competitions.
The English talent has been a reliable performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 1.1 shots, 1.9 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in League One. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the final third, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 80.4% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
What Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Do With Regards To Dembele?
Dembele can create a yard of space for himself to get some shots in at goal. He has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in and around the opponent’s penalty area and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.
At the moment, Dembele is performing at a high level in League One. However, he would need some time to adapt to the high intensity of top-flight football. Still, the Toffees should consider launching a move for him this summer as he would be a great signing for them this summer. Everton boss Sean Dyche can expect to unlock the best out of the youngster at the Merseyside club in the long run if he can find a way to win the race for his services.
