In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that West Ham United are showing interest in Sevilla centre-forward Youssef En-Nesyri. It has been stated that the Hammers are eyeing a move to land the Moroccan forward in a deal worth around €20m.
En-Nesyri’s Impressive Record In La Liga This Season
En-Nesyri is having a good campaign at the Andalusian club as he managed to put in a string of impressive displays in the final third. The Moroccan sensation has been involved in 32 matches for Sevilla this season, scoring 14 times and earning two assists in multiple competitions.
The 26-year-old has caught the eye at times in the opponent’s half based on his average of 2.1 shots, 0.3 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per game in La Liga. However, he lacks quality when distributing possession up top after completing 63.2% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2025. Therefore, West Ham could potentially recruit him on a cut-price deal later this year.
What Will En-Nesyri Add To West Ham United Boss David Moyes’ Team?
En-Nesyri excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can be a streaky goal-scorer in the final third and can create the odd chance for his teammates in and around the opponent’s penalty area. However, the Morocco international has to find a way to improve his link-up play up top.
En-Nesyri is primarily a centre-forward but can also operate as a winger on either flank if told to do so. He would add more firepower to West Ham head coach David Moyes’ frontline. The Moroccan talent has what it takes to serve as an ideal replacement for Michail Antonio, who has entered the twilight years of his playing career at the London Stadium.
At 26, En-Nesyri is about to enter his prime soon which makes him a good choice for the Hammers to pursue at the end of this season. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the high intensity of English football if Moyes can devise a way to sign him this summer.
