Manchester City are all set to host Newcastle United at Etihad Stadium in the quarter-final of the FA Cup this weekend. They faced arch-rivals Liverpool in the previous game, which settled for a 1-1 draw after many ups and downs throughout the clash.
The Citizens will head into the clash after a well-deserving five days rest. They will be the absolute favourites for the tie but anything can happen in the game of Football. A win will get them one step closer to the trophy and also help in keeping their confidence high.
4-2-3-1 Manchester City Predicted Lineup Vs Newcastle United
Defence
Ederson is going to miss the clash due to a muscle injury, meaning Stefan Ortega will be lined up between the sticks. No opportunity for Rico Lewis as Kyle Walker will be preferred for the right-back position.
Ruben Dias is going to come back into the starting lineup and form the centre-back pair with Nathan Ake. The latter made a silly mistake against the Reds but has been solid otherwise. There should be a toss-up between Josko Gvardio and Sergio Gomez for the left-back spot.
Midfield
Mateo Kovacic is expected to come in at the expense of John Stones in the midfield. Unsurprisingly, Rodri will be the other holding midfielder.
Boss Pep Guardiola would like to field a new attacking lineup. While Julian Alvarez will continue to operate, Jeremy Doku could join in following his impressive glimpse against Liverpool. Oscar Bobb might also find himself starting the game.
Matheus Nunes and Bernardo Silva are going to start on the bench.
Attack
Erling Haaland will be leading the attacking lineup for the Citizens. He couldn’t do much on Sunday and would be eager to find the back of the net.
Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish are the two notable absentees, excluding the Brazilian goal-stopper Ederson.
