In a recent report, Calciomercato revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are still in the running to sign Genoa attacker Albert Gudmundsson. It has been stated that Spurs are eyeing a move to bring the Icelandic talent to North London in the summer.
Gudmundsson’s Impressive Numbers In Serie A This Season
Gudmundsson is having a decent campaign at the Italian club as he has put in a run of impressive displays for them in the final third. The Reykjavik-born forward has banged in 12 goals and picked up four assists in 28 matches for Genoa this season across all fronts.
The 26-year-old has been a reliable performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 1.9 shots, 2.5 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been careful when interchanging possession with his teammates after making 81.5% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2027 which would make it tough for Tottenham to get a deal done for him on the cheap in the upcoming transfer window.
Will Gudmundsson Be A Decent Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu?
Gudmundsson is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball out on the flanks. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to cut open the opponent’s defence with a killer pass in the final third.
The Icelandic sensation is primarily a forward but can also fill in as a winger on either flank if asked to do so. However, he has still not proven his worth at the highest level. At the moment, Gudmundsson is playing some of his best football at Genoa, so Spurs will do well to get him on board this summer.
We can expect him to add more goals and creativity to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s attack. He is more than capable of fighting for a regular starting spot at the North London club next season. All in all, Gudmundsson would be a great choice for Tottenham to consider when the transfer window commences at the end of this campaign.
