In a recent report, Marca claimed that LOSC Lille youngster Leny Yoro wants to join Real Madrid in the summer. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos are in a good position to land the French centre-back at the end of this campaign.
Yoro’s Impressive Run Of Form In French Football
Yoro has produced a series of impressive displays at the heart of Lille’s backline after coming through their youth ranks in recent years. The 18-year-old has participated in 32 matches for the French outfit this season, scoring three times in all competitions.
The talented teenager has been a decent performer when defending inside his half as he is averaging 1.2 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 3.0 clearances per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from the back after making 92.3% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the French club will run out in the summer of 2025. Hence, Los Blancos could potentially land him on a cut-price deal in the upcoming transfer window.
Should Real Madrid Head Coach Carlo Ancelotti Get Yoro On Board?
Yoro is a tough-tackling defender who can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his side on the defensive third of the pitch. He doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.
Standing at 1.90m, the French whizkid can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. He is even proficient at playing his way out from inside his half.
Yoro is already good enough to serve as an important member of Real Madrid‘s squad. He would add more bite and steel to Carlo Ancelotti’s defence and would be a decent, long-term replacement for Nacho Fernandez who has entered the twilight years of his playing career at the Madrid club.
At 18, Yoro has got the potential to become a success story at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the long run. Thus, it makes sense for the Madrid giants to go all out to get him the French prospect on board when the transfer window reopens at the end of this campaign.
