In a recent report, The Chronicle revealed that Newcastle United are planning to offer Paul Dummett a new contract. It is understood that the Magpies are eager to keep hold of the Welsh defender beyond this summer.
Dummett’s Sporadic Role At Tyneside
Dummett has struggled to earn regular playing opportunities at St. James’ Park this season. He has only featured in four matches for the Magpies during this campaign across multiple competitions.
However, the Welsh talent has managed to serve as a useful member of Eddie Howe’s match-day squad. If he is willing to accept playing a reserved role at the Tyneside club, it is only logical for Newcastle to try and tie him down to a new contract.

At 32, Dummett has got a wealth of experience in English football under his belt and could help the Magpies compete across all fronts in the upcoming campaign. Thus, Howe would be wise to tie him down to a new, short-term contract.
