In a recent interview with Tottenham News, former Premier League keeper Paul Robinson urged Tottenham Hotspur to move in for Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze in the summer. Robinson said,
“I think he’d be a great signing for Tottenham, I mean we’ve seen his qualities in the Premier League this season.
“We’ve seen Palace struggle without him in their side. He’s 25, with his attacking prowess, he has the ability to play in the midfield but more of an attacking midfielder.
“You look at the options Tottenham have got in those areas, Brennan Johnson’s come in – would they have signed Eze last year ahead of Johnson? There’s an argument potentially they would have done if they could have done.
“Timo Werner’s not going to stick around it doesn’t like, it’s been a decent loan so far, he’s been a good fit between the window and the end of the season. Can I see that long term? No.
“So there is space there in the squad for that type of player. If Tottenham do go for Eze they’re going to have competition from numerous clubs but I think Ange has the managerial pull because of the way he plays, the noises we hear coming out of Tottenham, the good feeling around the place.
“And especially if there’s Champions League on offer. Listen if Manchester City come knocking as well then the player’s got a bit decision to make.
“But if Tottenham are in the Champions League next season it makes it a hell of a lot easier to attract players like that.”
Eze’s Impressive Season At Selhurst Park
Eze is enjoying another impressive campaign at the London club after putting in a few productive performances for them in the final third. The English talent has been involved in 21 matches for the Eagles this season, scoring six times and securing three assists across all fronts.
The 25-year-old has been a decent performer in the opponent’s half as he is averaging 2.9 shots, 1.9 key passes and 2.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 84.6% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Is Eze A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu?
Eze can be a hard man to stop when he is running in full swing in the opponent’s half. He has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in and around the opposition penalty box and can shoot the ball with venom and accuracy from long range.
We can expect Eze to add more goals and creativity to Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu’s first XI. He would offer some serious competition for James Maddision at the North London club in the coming years. Thus, he would be an excellent choice for Spurs to consider in the summer transfer period.
