In a recent report, Sport stated that Barcelona are set to reginite their interest in Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. It has been revealed that the Catalan club are eager to sign the France international in the summer.
Rabiot’s Impressive Form In Serie A This Season
Rabiot is having a solid campaign at the Italian club as he has been responsible for putting in a handful of dominant displays for them at the centre of the park. The 28-year-old has netted four goals and earned three assists in 23 matches for Juve this season across all fronts.
The French midfield ace has been a decent performer at both ends of the pitch based on his average of 1.9 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.0 clearances, 1.4 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has even accurate when distributing possession from midfield after making 84.9% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Turin club will expire at the end of this campaign which could open the door for Barca to recruit him on a free transfer in the summer.
Should Barcelona Go For Rabiot This Summer?
Rabiot is a solid tackler of the ball and can make a few timely interceptions for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and can even strike the ball with power from long range.
The France international can create the odd chance for his teammates up top and is an energetic dribbler with the ball from midfield. He mainly plays as a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder or function as a left-sided wide player if required.
Rabiot would inject more quality into Barcelona‘s first XI. He is good enough to earn a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp in the coming seasons. At 28, Rabiot is playing at the peak stage of his career which makes him a good option for the Catalan club to consider in the summer.
Rabiot is under contract at Juventus until the end of this season. Hence, Barca could potentially to sign him when he becomes a free agent in the summer. Thus, the La Liga giants should go for Rabiot later this year as he could help them compete across all competitions over the next few years.
