In a recent report, TV Play mentioned that Newcastle United are showing interest in Juventus wide player Federico Chiesa this summer. It has been claimed that the Magpies are eyeing a move to recruit the Italy international in the upcoming transfer window.
Chiesa’s Impressive Form At The Allianz Stadium
The 26-year-old is having a decent campaign at the Turin club as he has put in a string of impressive displays on the left side of their attack. Chiesa has registered six goals and picked up a couple of assists in 22 appearances for Juve this season across multiple competitions.
The Italian sensation has been a reliable performer in the final third based on his average of 2.0 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after making 76% of his attempted passes in the Italian top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2025 which would open the door for the Magpies to sign him on the cheap this summer.
Is Chiesa A Decent Option For Newcastle United?
Chiesa is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can also make a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. He can strike the ball with power from long range but needs to find a way to be more prolific in front of the opponent’s goal.
The Italian sensation is primarily a left-sided winger but can also operate on the right flank or play as a striker up top if needed. Someone with his quality and versatility would be a welcome addition to Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe’s squad in the summer.
At 26, Chiesa has got his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent option for the Magpies to consider at the end of this season. He would undeniably enhance the quality of the Tyneside club’s frontline and would add some healthy competition for Anthony Gordon and Miguel Almiron at St. James’ Park in the coming years.
Thus, Howe should focus on getting a deal done for him in the summer transfer period.
