In a recent tweet, French journalist Seb Ecrivain Foot stated that Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is gathering interest from Manchester United. It has been stated that the Red Devils are hoping to land the English centre-back from the Merseyside club this summer.
Branthwaite’s Impressive Form In Premier League Football
Branthwaite is having a solid campaign at Goodison Park as he has been responsible for putting in a string of dominant performances for the Toffees on the defensive third of the field. The English defensive ace has scored one goal in 28 matches for Everton this season across various competitions.
The 21-year-old has been a dominant presence inside his half based on his average of 2.1 tackles, 1.8 interceptions and 4.3 clearances per game in the Premier League. He was even accurate when distributing possession from the back after making 79.4% of his attempted passes in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Branthwaite is under contract at Goodison Park until the summer of 2027. However, Everton‘s financial concerns could force Sean Dyche to cash in on him at the end of this season.
What Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Do With Regards To Branthwaite?
Branthwaite is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and can use his towering 1.95m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. The English sensation can play in both centre-back positions and is usually a good presence on the ball.
At the moment, Branthwaite is enjoying his football at the Merseyside club. He remains one of the first names in Sean Dyche’s teamsheet due his consistency on the defensive end of the field.
At 21, the English talent has got the potential to become a world-class player in his position someday. However, as mentioned earlier, the Merseyside club are currently in financial turmoil which could force Dyche to part ways with Branthwaite at the end of this season.
Someone with his skillset would be a massive loss for the Toffees, so Dyche should consider all his options before making a decision on the defender’s future in the summer.
