In a recent report, AS offered an update on the future of on-loan Real Madrid forward Joselu. It has been stated that Los Blancos are planning to activate the €1.5m option to make the Spanish striker’s loan stay permanent in the summer.
Joselu’s Impressive Loan Spell At The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium
Joselu has caught the eye with his performances as the focal point of Carlo Ancelotti’s attack this season. The 33-year-old has found the back of the net 13 times and secured four assists in 35 matches for Real Madrid during this campaign in all competitions.
The 33-year-old has seen most of his appearances come as a substitute but has done well to average 2.0 shots and 0.4 key passes per 90 minutes in La Liga. However, he needs to improve his link-up play up top after completing 74.7% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Joselu’s current loan spell at the Madrid club will expire at the end of this campaign. Thus, it makes a lot of sense for Real Madrid to sign him permanently later this year.
Real Madrid Planning To Sign Joselu Permanently: Good Move For Both Parties?
Joselu excels at creating a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in on-target. He can be a streaky goal-getter in the final third and can create the odd chance for his teammates when he is playing well on the pitch.
Standing at 1.91m, the Spanish sensation can use his strong frame to hold possession up the field and also win some 50-50 aerial duels for his team. However, he has to figure out a way to improve his link-up play up top.
Joselu has what it takes to serve as an important member of Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid squad in the short term. Thus, it seems like a good move for both the player and the Madrid club to extend their time together beyond this summer.
At 33, Joselu has only got a few good years left in him to play at a high level. Still, Los Blancos should reward the veteran forward for his recent contributions by making his loan stay permanent in the summer. Hence, Ancelotti should consider activating the €1.5m option in the player’s contract to bring him to the Bernabeu permanently at the end of this season.
