English club Liverpool have identified Palmeiras youngster Luis Guilherme as a top priority in the summer transfer window, according to Football Insider. They wanted to propose an offer for him in the January window but finally decided against it.
The Reds now have decided to go all out for Guilherme in the summer and send a formal offer to acquire his services. However, multiple big clubs have been keeping their eyes on the Brazilian youngster, who is hyped to be the next big thing in the football world.
Luis Guilherme is considered the next Kylian Mbappe
Luis Guilherme came into the limelight after he got promoted to the senior club. He made his debut for the Brazilian giants in April 2023 and has appeared in 32 games across all competitions. However, he has yet to make a goal contribution.
Guilherme has already made his debut for the U-20 Brazil side despite turning 18 just a couple of weeks ago. He is known for his electric speed and is often compared to PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe. He clocked a top speed of 36.4 km/h in 2022, similar to Mbappe’s speed.
Liverpool will go through a transition
Liverpool is preparing for life after Jurgen Klopp, who is set to leave the club following this season. Not only him, but even sporting director Jorg Schmadtke will exit the club. The club is actively working to find their replacements before the new season kicks off.
However, that hasn’t stopped them from recruiting players in the market. They are planning to bolster their squad to continue being a top side in the domestic league as well as Europe. In that pursuit, Luis Guilherme has been made a potential target.
The Brazilian is versatile enough to play as an attacking midfielder or on the flanks. The 18-year-old has enormous time to improve and settle himself in a top-tier league. It will be a good signing for the English club if they manage to get his signature.
