In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, transfer insider Dean Jones revealed that Arsenal remain big admirers of Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Pedro Neto. Jones said,
“It was an ideal fixture for them to take in those two players. Both of them have been on the radar over the past year, and it was an opportunity to check exactly where each player is at this stage of the season.
“To be honest, I think it’s beyond the stage of gauging how good either player is. Arsenal are totally convinced that either of them or both of them could work well at the Emirates. There are not really any doubts around that.”
Neto’s Impressive Run Of Form In Premier League Football
Neto has enjoyed a decent campaign at the West Midlands club as he has put in a run of productive displays for them in the final third. The 23-year-old has banged in three goals and grabbed 11 assists in 19 matches for Wolves this season across multiple competitions.
The Portuguese attacker has been a reliable performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 2.0 shots, 2.3 key passes and 1.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession on the offensive end of the field, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 83.3% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Is Neto A Decent Option For Arsenal?
Neto is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can be quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty box. He can shoot the ball with venom from all ranges and has got a knack for creating a handful of clear-cut chances for his teammates up top.
The Portugal international mainly functions as a right-sided wide player but can also play on the left wing or operate in the number ten position if required. He has got a wealth of experience in Premier League football and won’t take much time to settle into life at Arsenal.
Neto would inject more firepower into Mikel Arteta‘s attack and could help the Gunners compete for some major silverware over the next few years. At 23, the best is yet to come from the Portuguese sensation which makes him a good option for the North London giants to consider for the long run.
