Manchester City entertained Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium earlier this evening as they looked to earn a win at home in the Premier League. The Mancunian club made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 42nd minute when Raheem Sterling scored with a good finish. Pep Guardiola‘s men went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.
Rodri finally managed to equalise for the home team in the 83rd minute as Man City had to settle for a hard-fought 1-1 draw in front of their home fans.
Let’s take a look at how each Manchester City player performed during the match against the Blues.
GK: Ederson – 7/10
The Brazilian keeper made a handful of solid saves at the back but couldn’t do much about Sterling’s finish in the first half.
RB: Kyle Walker – 7/10
Walker was a positive influence in both halves but couldn’t stop Sterling in the lead-up to Chelsea’s goal.
CB: Manuel Akanji – 6.5/10
He didn’t do much wrong at the back but failed to keep a clean sheet.
CB: Ruben Dias – 7/10
Dias cleared the danger when he could and was a threat at the other end of the field.
LB: Nathan Ake – 7/10
He performed his defensive duties well and made two decent chances in the final third.
CDM: Rodri – 8/10
The Spaniard caught the eye in both halves and managed to score the all-important equaliser for Man City in the 83rd minute.
RW: Phil Foden – 7/10
Foden showed what he is capable of at times but failed to register a goal.
CM: Kevin de Bruyne – 7.5/10
He set up a handful of inviting chances for others around him but has got nothing to show for his efforts.
CM: Julian Alvarez – 6.5/10
The Argentine talent made a few decent chances for his teammates to score but failed to get his name on the scoresheet.
LW: Jeremy Doku – 7/10
Doku made some dangerous runs with the ball but there was no goal for him.
ST: Erling Haaland – 7/10
Haaland missed some great chances to find the back of the net. However, he deserves credit for getting himself into some promising areas in the final third.
