Real Madrid are warming up for the summer transfer window with acquiring a new elite striker being their priority. According to a report published in Defensa Central, they are monitoring Manchester United’s young striker Rasmus Hojlund.
The Spanish club see him as a potential backup if they fail to sign any of Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland. The French superstar has been linked to the club for a long time. However, both parties are yet to agree on mutual terms to finalize a contract.
Rasmus Hojlund is raising the levels
The 21-year-old Rasmus Hojlund is a young talented striker from Denmark. His early days in the Premier League weren’t very fruitful and he was subject to a lot of criticism. However, things have changed in recent months and he has finally settled down well at the Old Trafford.
In this season, Hojlund has featured in 29 games so far, netting 11 goals and providing two assists. He is averaging 1.7 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game. He is a physically strong player and also likes to dribble his way to score (stats via whoscored).
Will Rasmus Hojlund be good enough for Real Madrid?
Real Madrid are still doing well in La Liga as well as the Champions League despite not signing any replacement for Karim Benzema. However, they have made up their mind to sign a player who can score 30-40 goals per season.
Los Blancos will run behind Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland as the first-choice players. If they cannot acquire any of them then Hojlund will not be a bad option either. He is young and has a full career ahead of him. With time, he will improve and can be a long-term solution.
However, the Red Devils won’t let the striker go easily as they have finally found a reliable striker after so long. Keeping all these in mind, it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid finally get their hands on the two premium names or finally settle down with emerging Hojlund in the summer.
