In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that West Ham United playmaker Lucas Paqueta is on the radar of Manchester City. It has been stated that the Mancunian club have set their sights on signing the Brazilian talent from the Hammers in the summer.
Paqueta’s Impressive Form In The Premier League This Season
Paqueta has experienced a decent campaign at the London Stadium as he has managed to produce a handful of influential displays for the Hammers in the final third. The Brazilian sensation has done well to score five goals and secure six assists in 27 matches for West Ham this season across multiple competitions.
The 26-year-old has caught the eye in both halves and deserves credit for averaging 2.4 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 0.8 clearances, 1.2 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball after making 75.8% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Paqueta’s current deal at the East London club will run out in the summer of 2027. Thus, David Moyes has no immediate need to cash in on him at the end of this season.
Can West Ham United Boss David Moyes Afford To Lose Paqueta?
Paqueta usually works hard for his team off the bench. He can get stuck in with a few solid tackles to earn possession back for his team inside his half. The South American talent can shoot the ball with venom from long range and can even create some decent plays for others around him in the attacking end of the pitch. He is a good dribbler with the ball as well in the opponent’s half.
When fit, Paqueta has proven himself to be one of the most important members of David Moyes’ first XI. Thus, the Hammers simply cannot afford to lose a player of his quality without signing a proper replacement first.
With all things considered, West Ham should only consider cashing in on Paqueta if they receive a big offer for him at the end of this campaign. Otherwise, Moyes would be better off keeping hold of the Brazilian playmaker beyond this summer.
