In a recent report, Marca mentioned that Real Madrid could re-sign Girona full-back Miguel Gutierrez on the cheap. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to bring the Spanish talent back to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium for €8m in the summer.
Gutierrez’s Impressive Run Of Form In Spanish Football
Gutierrez is having a solid campaign at Girona as he has managed to produce a run of impressive displays on the left side of their defence. The 22-year-old has scored one goal and picked up five assists in 27 matches for the Spanish outfit this season on all fronts.
The Spanish full-back has caught the eye at times in both halves based on his average of 0.9 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 1.9 clearances, 1.0 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in La Liga. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing possession from the left flank, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 87.6% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Gutierrez is under contract at the Spanish club until the summer of 2027. However, Los Blancos have got the option to buy him back for just €8m next summer.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Bring Gutierrez Back?
Gutierrez is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to earn possession back for his side when he is playing well on the pitch. The Spaniard doesn’t mind clearing the danger when the opposition are on the front foot and can even make a few driving runs with the ball. He can also create some inviting chances for others around him on the left wing but needs to add a few more goals to his game.
Gutierrez would no doubt improve the quality of Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s defensive department. He is good enough to secure a regular starting spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next season.
At 22, Gutierrez has his best years ahead of him which makes him a good option for the Madrid giants to pursue at the end of this campaign. All in all, Ancelotti would be wise to go all out to bring the Spanish defender back to Real Madrid soon. Gutierrez already knows the Madrid club well from his previous spell and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Bernabeu.
