Aston Villa Agree On A Deal To Sign This Arsenal Defender: Good Signing For Emery?

In a recent tweet, journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that Aston Villa have agreed on a deal to sign Arsenal left-back Lino Sousa. It is believed that the English youngster is set to have his medical with the West Midlands club soon.

Sousa’s Impressive Rise At Arsenal

Sousa came through the youth ranks of West Bromwich Albion before sealing a move to join Arsenal’s youth set-up in 2022. He managed to shine for the Gunners’ Under-18 side and managed to establish himself as an important player for the London club’s Under-21 team.

The English starlet has done well to score two goals in seven matches for Arsenal’s U-21 team this season in the Premier League 2.

The 19-year-old is currently amongst the best young full-backs in English football. Therefore, Aston Villa would do well to get a deal over the line for him in this January transfer period.

Is Lino Sousa A Good Signing For Aston Villa Head Coach Unai Emery?

Sousa is a good tackler of the ball and can make some crucial interceptions for his team inside his half when he is playing well on the pitch. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when in danger of being caught out at the back. The English whizkid can make some driving runs with the ball on the left flank. He is primarily a left-back but can also play as a left-winger or as a central defender if told to do so by his manager.

At 19, Sousa has the potential to become a world-class player in his position someday. Thus, it makes sense for Aston Villa boss Unai Emery to get him on board this winter as he would be a terrific signing for the West Midlands club in the long run.

Sousa has what it takes to become a future starter at Villa Park. He already knows English football well from his time at Arsenal and won’t take much time to settle into life at Aston Villa. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth to the Villa supporters. Still, there is no denying that Sousa has the ceiling to help the Villans compete at the highest level over the next decade.
