In a recent report, Inter Live claimed that Newcastle United could move in for Inter Milan full-back Federico Dimarco next summer. It has been stated that the Magpies are hoping to land the Italian defender at the end of this season.
Dimarco’s Solid Run Of Form In Serie A
Dimarco has managed to catch the eye with his performances on the left side of Inter’s defence. The Italian talent has done well to score three times and grab seven assists in 25 matches for the Milan outfit this season across various competitions.
The 26-year-old has been a solid performer on the left flank and deserves credit for averaging 1.4 tackles, 0.9 clearances, 1.4 shots and 2.1 key passes per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even distributed possession accurately from the back based on his pass success rate of 84.9% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
Dimarco’s current deal at the Italian club will expire in the summer of 2027 which would make it difficult for the Magpies to sign him on a cut-price deal in the summer.
Is Dimarco A Good Choice For Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe?
Dimarco is a solid tackler of the ball and usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the offensive. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and has got the vision to create a few decent chances for his teammates up top. The Italian is primarily a left-back but can also fill in as a central defender or as a left-winger if told to do so by his manager.
We can expect Dimarco to bring more quality and depth to Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe’s defence. He is good enough to earn a regular starting spot at St. James’ Park next season if he can make a smooth transition to life in England.
At 26, Dimarco will enter his prime soon which makes him a great choice for the Magpies to pursue at the end of this campaign. The Italian full-back might even help Newcastle compete for a top-four finish in the Premier League next season. Thus, Howe should try everything in his power to bring Dimarco to the Tyneside club in the summer transfer window.
