In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Dean Jones stated that Tottenham Hotspur are close to recruiting Club Brugge wide player Antonio Nusa. Jones said,
“There has actually been some reports today that it has moved forward, but my information is that we’re pretty much where we were. That’s not to say it’s in a bad place, it’s totally fine. This was never a deal that was as urgent as a Radu Dragusin or a Timo Werner deal, this is more of a slow burner and a transfer that is planned to have an impact beyond the next summer, not really for now.
“But everything has gone fine, as far as I understand it. Musa is still a player that Tottenham are really keen to get on board and to sign. He’s definitely open to joining, and while I wouldn’t expect it to happen imminently, I still do think we’ll probably get an agreement on it before the deadline.”
Nusa’s Recent Emergence In Belgian Football
The 18-year-old is enjoying a decent campaign at the Belgian club after he put in a string of impressive displays for them out on the flanks. The talented starlet has done well to register four goals and earn three assists in 27 appearances for Club Brugge this season in multiple competitions.
Nusa has been a good performer in the final third and deserves credit for averaging 1.8 shots, 1.1 key passes and 2.7 dribbles per game in the Jupiler Pro League. He has even been accurate when interchanging possession with his teammates after completing 81.1% of his attempted passes in the Belgian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Nusa’s current deal at the Belgian club will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, Tottenham would find it difficult to get a deal done for him before next Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Tottenham Hotspur Are Close To Recruiting Nusa: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Nusa can find a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for others around him in the final third. The Norwegian talent can even make a few clever runs with the ball out on the flanks. He mainly operates as a left-sided wide player but can also fill in as a right-winger or play as a striker down the middle if asked to do so.
We can expect Nusa to add more firepower to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s attack. He is good enough to offer some decent competition for Brennan Johnson at the North London club.
At 18, Nusa is no doubt a prospect to watch out for in the future, so Spurs will do well to get a deal done for him in this January transfer period.
