In a recent report, Football.London claimed that Arsenal are eyeing a loan move for Paris Saint-Germain full-back Nordi Mukiele. It has been stated that the Gunners could seal a loan move for the French defender this January.
Mukiele’s Lack Of Game Time In French Football
The 26-year-old has found game time hard to come by at the French club during this campaign. Mukiele has made ten appearances for PSG this season, picking up one assist in the process across all fronts.
The French talent has been a good performer inside his half based on his average of 1.1 tackles, 1.0 interceptions and 2.6 clearances per game in Ligue 1. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from the back after completing 85.9% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at PSG will run out in the summer of 2027. However, the player could be open to a loan move to Arsenal in search of more playing opportunities in the second half of this campaign.
Is Mukiele A Good Option For Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta?
Mukiele is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when the opposition are on the front foot. However, the French talent has to find a way to be more consistent with his offensive contributions.
The French sensation is primarily a right-back but can also function as a central defender if asked to do so by his manager. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if Arsenal can find a way to sign him on loan before the end of this month.
Mukiele is good enough to add more depth to Mikel Arteta‘s defence and could help the Gunners compete across all fronts this season. Hence, he could serve as a decent, short-term option for the North London club to pursue in this January transfer window. All in all, Arteta should focus on sealing a loan move for the French full-back soon.
