In a recent tweet, renowned journalist Alan Nixon mentioned that West Ham United are still showing interest in Bayer 04 Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface. It has been stated that the Hammers are eager to seal a move for the Nigerian striker.

Boniface’s Impressive Numbers In German Football This Season
Boniface is having a productive campaign at the German club after he put in a run of impressive displays as the focal point of Leverkusen’s attack. The 23-year-old has banged in 16 goals and picked up eight assists in 23 matches for his current club this season in multiple competitions.
The Nigerian centre-forward has led the line well by averaging 4.4 shots, 1.3 key passes and 2.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. However, he has to improve his ball distribution after completing 72.1% of his attempted passes in the German first division (stats via whoscored).
Boniface is under contract at the German club until the summer of 2028. Hence, it would take a big fee for West Ham to stand a chance of recruiting the talented forward this month.
Should West Ham United Boss David Moyes Move In For Boniface?
Boniface can do a little bit of everything in the final third. He is proficient at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. The Nigerian sensation has got the vision to create a few inviting chances for his teammates and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. Standing at 1.90m, he can be a dominant presence in the air. However, Boniface has to find a way to improve his link-up play in and around the opponent’s penalty area.
We can expect him to bring more firepower to West Ham head coach David Moyes’ attack. He is good enough to compete with Michail Antonio for a regular starting spot at the London Stadium in the coming seasons.
At 23, the future looks quite bright for Boniface as long he continues to improve with each year. Thus, the Hammers would be wise to move in for him before the end of this January transfer period. He has what it takes to help West Ham compete for a European place in the Premier League this season if he can make a smooth transition to life in England.
