In a recent report, SportBILD mentioned that Newcastle United are showing interest in Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich. It has been stated that the Magpies would have to move in for the German talent quickly if they want to recruit him or else risk facing competition from other top clubs in the future.
Kimmich’s Impressive Run Of Form In Bundesliga This Season
The 28-year-old is having another fine campaign in German football after he put in a series of impressive displays at the centre of Bayern’s midfield. Kimmich has found the back of the net once and secured six assists in 21 matches for the Bavarian outfit this season across all competitions.
The German sensation has been a positive influence in both halves as he is averaging 1.8 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.6 clearances, 1.3 shots and 2.8 key passes per game in the Bundesliga. He has even been careful when distributing possession from midfield after completing 90.4% of his attempted passes in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club will expire in the summer of 2025. Thus, Newcastle could potentially sign him on a cut-price deal at the end of this season.
Is Kimmich A Decent Choice For Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe?
Kimmich can do a little bit of everything at the centre of the park. He is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. The German midfield ace usually clears the danger when needed and can even make a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. He can even shoot the ball with venom from long range.
Kimmich will no doubt enhance the quality of Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe’s first XI. He has what it takes to nail down a regular starting spot at St. James’ Park. Therefore, Kimmich would be a terrific choice for the Tyneside club to consider this month.
At 28, the German still has plenty of football left in him to play at his best. Hence, it makes sense for Howe to try everything in his power to acquire the services of the German talent before the end of this transfer window.
