In a recent report, Tuttomercatoweb claimed that Aston Villa are eyeing a summer move for Lazio playmaker Felipe Anderson. It has been mentioned that the Villans are eager to secure the services of the Brazilian winger at the end of this campaign.
Anderson’s Impressive Run Of Form In Italian Football
Anderson is having a decent season at the Italian club as he has produced a handful of influential performances for them in the final third. The 30-year-old has found the back of the net on two occasions and secured seven assists in 28 matches for Lazio this season in various competitions.
The Brazilian talent has been a good performer in the final third based on his average of 1.9 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 1.1 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even distributed possession relatively well after making 76.9% of his attempted passes in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
Anderson is under contract at Lazio until the end of this campaign which could open the door for the Villans to sign him on a free transfer this summer.
Should Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery Go For Anderson?
Anderson has got the vision to create a few inviting chances for his teammates on the offensive end of the field. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and can make some driving runs with the ball as well. Anderson is primarily a right-winger but can also play as a left-winger or function as a centre-forward if needed.
The Brazilian talent knows the Premier League well from his previous spell at West Ham United. Hence, he won’t take much time to settle into life at Villa Park if Unai Emery can devise a way to bring him on board next summer.
Anderson would bring more quality and depth to the West Midlands club‘s frontline. He is good enough to fight for regular first-team football at Aston Villa. At 30, Anderson might still have a few good years left in him to play at a high level.
Thus, the Brazilian could be a good, short-term signing for the Villans to pull off at the end of this campaign. Hence, Emery would be wise to go all out to recruit Anderson on a free transfer next summer.
