People have started questioning Thomas Tuchel and his setup at Bayern Munich. They are currently second in the league, and Tuchel must improve his team. But for the time being, his job is safe. It was a different story towards the end of his Chelsea tenure. He was sacked by Todd Boehly which came as a shock to everyone.
Thomas Tuchel on his Chelsea tenure
The German coach was unexpectedly sacked by Premier League team Chelsea, in September 2022. His team didn’t do well at the beginning of the last season, so they let him go. Even though Tuchel had led Chelsea to win the Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup before, they didn’t show any kindness when they quickly let him leave the team.
“It was a shock. The meeting only lasted 3-5 minutes at eight in the morning. We all thought we were on the right track and had more time to build something. Now I have found a new challenge. We had a good relationship with people there (Chelsea). I still have a lot of friends at Chelsea and that’s not going to change,” Tuchel said about getting sacked.
After leaving Chelsea, Tuchel didn’t have a job for a few months. However, he’s now the new coach at Bayern Munich, taking over from Julian Nagelsmann, after being connected to important coaching positions across Europe.
After becoming Bayern manager, Tuchel talked about wanting to win three trophies: the Bundesliga, German Cup, and Champions League. They did manage to win the league, but it happened in the last match of the season, and they couldn’t grab the Champions League trophy.
This season they are currently 2nd in the table and people have started questioning whether Tuchel is right for the role.
Even though he was sacked at Chelsea, Tuchel recently revealed that he felt more appreciated in England. He claims he doesn’t feel much admired in Germany.
“Yes, pretty simple. I felt more appreciation in England, yes,” Tuchel said.
Q: Do you feel more appreciated in England than you are here [at Bayern]?
Thomas Tuchel: "Yes, pretty simple. I felt more appreciation in England, yes."

The expectations are greater at Bayern since they contend for the UEFA Champions League every season. Bayern must strive for success in the UCL, or else Tuchel’s position might be at risk.
