Here are the latest Scottish Premiership transfer rumours of the day as on 14.1.2024.
Rangers reject Ridvan Yilmaz loan offer
According to the Scottish Sun, Rangers said no to a proposal where Ridvan Yilmaz could go on loan first and be bought later by Serie A side Hellas Verona. The 22-year-old Turkish left-back might leave Ibrox soon because many European teams are interested.
Yilmaz came to Rangers for somewhere in the £5 million range from Besiktas in 2022, but he hasn’t been a regular starter for the Scottish Premiership side. Hellas Verona from Italy wants him, especially since their left-back Josh Doig, is likely leaving for Marseille (although some confusion there). However, it’s not only Verona’s offer that got rejected; a loan-to-buy deal from Galatasaray in Turkey for about £3.4 million was also not accepted.
Celtic after Caoimhin Kelleher
Celtic might be interested in getting Liverpool’s goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher. He’s from the Republic of Ireland and has played in 12 games for Liverpool this season, mostly in the Europa League and League Cup.
However, he’s not the main goalkeeper; that’s Alisson. According to The Sun, Celtic are thinking about getting Kelleher in the summer if he wants to leave Liverpool. Celtic’s current main goalkeeper is Joe Hart, who is turning 37 in April and has only five months left on his contract.
Rangers are interested in Cameron Pring
Rangers seem to be interested in Cameron Pring from Bristol City. Another report from The Sun that claims that Clement is thinking about getting the left-back in January since Ridvan Yilmaz might leave, especially with interest from Italy. Pring is known as one of the top players in his position in the second tier of English football.
Sydney van Hooijdonk might not join Celtic
Celtic are interested in Sydney van Hooijdonk, but his manager Thiago Motta thinks the player might still have a future at his current club, Bologna as per reports from Football Scotland. The striker, who is the son of former player Pierre, became well-known in the Netherlands by scoring 16 goals for NAC Breda in 2020-21. After being bought by Bologna, he did even better in the Dutch top league with 22 goals in 48 games for Heerenveen.
However, at Bologna, he hasn’t played much, and another striker, Joshua Zirkzee, is getting more attention. Despite that, Motta believes that van Hooijdonk could still contribute to Bologna’s season with a different approach to help them in games.
