In a recent report, ESPN mentioned that Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Bayern Munich ace Alphonso Davies. It is believed that Los Blancos are keeping a close eye on the Canada international’s contract situation at the German club.
Davies’ Impressive Run Of Form In German Football
Davies is having a solid campaign at the Allianz Arena after he put in a series of impressive performances on the left side of Bayern’s backline. The 23-year-old has participated in 23 matches for the Bavarian outfit this season, picking up three assists in the process on all fronts.
The Canadian talent has been a reliable performer on the left flank as he is averaging 1.5 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 1.5 key passes and 2.7 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball based on his pass completion rate of 89.7% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Davies is under contract at Bayern until the summer of 2025. Hence, Real Madrid could potentially land him on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.
Is Davies A Good Option For Real Madrid?
Davies is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and can even create some decent chances for his teammates from the left flank.
The Canadian sensation is a good dribbler with the ball as well. He is primarily a left-back but can also function as a left-winger if asked to do so. Thus, it makes sense for Real Madrid to launch a move to acquire his services this summer.
At 23, Davies has his best years ahead of him which makes him a great option for Los Blancos to consider at the end of this campaign. He is good enough to secure a regular starting spot at the Madrid club for the next decade.
Davies would no doubt enhance the quality of Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI. He might even help Los Blancos challenge for some major trophies in the coming seasons. However, only time will tell whether Davies can maintain his good form in Spain.
