In a recent report, The Telegraph mentioned that Newcastle United are keen on sealing a move for Bournemouth forward Dominic Solanke. It has been stated that the Magpies are showing interest in recruiting the English striker before the end of this month.
Solanke’s Impressive Record In Premier League Football This Season
The 26-year-old has put in a series of impressive displays as the focal point of Bournemouth’s attack during this Premier League campaign. Solanke has banged in 13 goals and grabbed one assist in 22 matches for the Cherries this season across all competitions.
The English sensation has led the line well by averaging 3.5 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the English top tier. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 76.9% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Vitality Stadium will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, the Magpies will have to make a big offer if they want to recruit the English centre-forward in this winter transfer period.
Is Solanke A Good Choice For Newcastle United?
Solanke is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get a few shots in on-target. He has proven himself to be a capable finisher in front of the opponent’s goal. Standing at 1.86m, Solanke can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition defenders in the air when he is playing well on the field. The English forward can even create some decent openings for his teammates in the final third. He is usually quite clever with his movements in and around the opposition penalty box.
We can expect Solanke to bring more goals to Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe’s attack. He would even help the Magpies compete across all fronts over the next few years. At 26, Solanke is about to enter his prime soon which makes him a great choice for the Tyneside club to pursue this January.
The former Liverpool striker is playing some of the best football of his playing career. Thus, Howe would be wise to engineer a move to bring him to St. James’ Park before the end of this January transfer window.
