In a recent report, Bild mentioned that Arsenal are prepared to move in for Bayer 04 Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong. It is believed that the Gunners are looking to trigger the Dutch talent’s £34m release clause to bring him to North London at the end of this campaign.
Frimpong’s Excellent Numbers In German Football This Season
The 23-year-old has been a consistent performer for the German club this season after he put in a run of impressive displays on the right side of their backline. Frimpong deserves a ton of credit for scoring seven goals and earning ten assists in 22 matches for Bayer Leverkusen during this campaign across all competitions.
The Amsterdam-born talent has done well to average 1.6 shots, 1.8 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per game in Bundesliga. He has even distributed the ball relatively well after making 79.5% of his attempted passes in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at Leverkusen will run out in the summer of 2028. Hence, the Gunners would have no choice but to pay his £34m release clause if they want to get him on board at the end of this season.
What Will Frimpong Add To Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta’s Team?
Frimpong is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can create a few clear-cut chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. He can even shoot the ball with power and accuracy from long range. Frimpong primarily operates as a right-back but can also fill in as a right-winger if required.
The Dutch sensation deserves a ton of credit for adding a lot of goals and assists to his game this season. Hence, he would be a brilliant signing for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to pull off next summer.
We can expect Frimpong to add more firepower to the North London club‘s frontline. He is good enough to help the Gunners compete for some major trophies in the coming years. However, only time will tell whether the Dutch wide player can make a smooth transition to life in England if Arsenal manage to land him at the end of this campaign.
