Onana’s Solid Season In The Premier League So Far
The 22-year-old is having another solid campaign at Goodison Park as he has been responsible for putting in a handful of influential displays at the heart of Sean Dyche’s midfield. Onana has registered two goals and grabbed one assist in 21 matches for the Toffees this season across all fronts.
The Belgian sensation has proven his worth at both ends of the field based on his average of 2.6 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.1 shots and 0.6 key passes per game in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing possession from midfield after completing 84.8% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Onana is under contract at the Merseyside club until the summer of 2027. Thus, it won’t be easy for Arsenal to get a deal done for him on the cheap this winter.
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Get Onana On Board?
Onana is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and has even got the vision to orchestrate some meaningful openings for his teammates up top.
The Belgium international can even strike the ball with venom from long range but needs to add a few more goals and assists to his game. Onana would inject more quality into Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s midfield. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at the Emirates Stadium.
At 22, Onana has got a bright future ahead of him and could be a great acquisition for the Gunners in the long run. Thus, it makes sense for the North London club to focus on getting the Belgian sensation on board in this winter transfer period. He already knows the Premier League well by now and won’t take much time to adjust to life in the English capital.
