In a recent report, The Guardian mentioned that Everton are facing stiff competition for Manchester United talent Hannibal Mejbri. It has been claimed that the Toffees are set to rival Sevilla in the race to sign the Tunisian attacker on loan this month.
Mejbri’s Lack Of Game Time At Man United This Season
Mejbri has struggled to earn regular playing time at Old Trafford this season. He has only featured in ten matches for the Red Devils during this campaign, finding the back of the net once in the process across all competitions.
The Tunisian talent has seen most of his game time come off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 0.2 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he has been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 83.8% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
The France-born sensation is under contract at the Mancunian club until the summer of 2025. Therefore, the Toffees would be wise to arrange a loan deal for him this month.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Go For Mejbri?
Mejbri is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can create a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. The Tunisian talent can shoot the ball with power from long range but needs to find a way to be more consistent in front of the opponent’s goal. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a right-winger or as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so by his manager.
Mejbri needs a change of scenery if he wants to earn more playing time in the future. Hence, a loan move to Everton could be a good move for him this January. The Man United sensation is good enough to fight for a regular spot in Sean Dyche’s first XI and could help the Merseyside club secure a top-half finish in the Premier League this season.
Therefore, the Toffees should consider going for Mejbri before the end of this winter transfer window as he would undoubtedly enhance the quality of their attack.
