Raheem Sterling stunned fans on Saturday by scoring an incredible free-kick in Chelsea’s game against Preston North End. The English footballer scored a goal as Chelsea defeated the lower-tier team 4-0 in the third round of the FA Cup. Mauricio Pochettino’s team was in fantastic form, having won their previous two league games.
Levi Colwill on Raheem Sterling scoring the freekick
Chelsea defender Levi Colwill shared that the whole team got scolded by an upset Mauricio Pochettino, known as the “hairdryer treatment,” following a poor first-half performance against Preston North End. The Premier League team struggled and couldn’t score against the Championship side’s defense.
In the second half, Pochettino’s team played much better and eased any worries. Armando Broja scored first with a great header from Malo Gusto’s cross. In the second half, Thiago Silva, who came in as a substitute, scored with a free header from Cole Palmer’s corner, making it 2-0 for Chelsea. Raheem Sterling beautifully converted a free kick that Cole Palmer earned in the 69th minute. Enzo Fernandez scored the fourth goal in the 85th minute, completing the big win.
“Something like that! I think we needed it though, we weren’t good enough, as everyone saw. The second half was much better. Raheem [Sterling] normally practices free-kicks the day before a game and he always scores. I think he’s scored two now — Newcastle and then today — so from that position, he’s a specialist at free-kicks,” he said.

“I love playing with Armando [Broja], he’s a great striker and a good mate of mine. I always encourage him because I know how good he can be. Today he showed it with his goal,” he added.
Pochettino’s talking sternly worked because Chelsea played much better in the second half. They scored four goals, and three of them came in just 11 minutes. Broja, Thiago Silva, Sterling, and Enzo Fernandez all scored, making it seem like a good win, even though the first half wasn’t great.
Chelsea easily made it to the next round of the FA Cup with a 4-0 win. Now, they are getting ready for another cup competition. The Blues will play against Middlesbrough in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday, and it’s an away game.
