All the arbitrary buys, the atrocious defending and the shaky confidence, were bound to have an effect on the West Ham United team. And it has come in the gravest form for the Hammers. Arguably their best player by a long margin, Dimitri Payet, has handed a transfer request to the London club.
West Ham United have lost 10 of their opening 20 games this season after an incredible run last in their last domestic campaign. Bilic has often seen his back four crumbling like a house of cards time and again and his front line lacking any real sharpness or intent in their attack.
After getting linked with almost all top players last summer, Bilic managed to bring Simone Zaza from Juventus on loan and he has been a terrible failure. Same could be said for Feghouli, who was so poor that he didn’t even get picked by his national team and hence he isn’t a part of AFCON now. While Bilic has been hugely criticised for his summer shopping this season, he could face further boot if he doesn’t persuade Payet to stay with the club.
However, since Payet’s departure look quite imminent currently, Bilic would be wiser if he already eyes a replacement. And a suitable option has come up in the form of Paris Saint-Germain winger Jese Rodriguez. The Sun reports that West Ham are one of the numerous teams on red alert as PSG make Jese Rodriguez available for a move this month.
PSG have their own problems. Manager Unai Emery is spoiled for choices in his squad and he is finding it difficult to stick to a concrete eleven to deploy his tactics effectively. Hence, he has decided moving out certain players on loan this winter and the top two to make the list are Rodriguez and midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak.
Jese has seen his first team chances very rarely so far. Since his big money move from Santiago Bernabeu for a reported fee of €25 million, the 23-year-old could only manage to make only 9 appearances for the team. And the big reason behind this has been the thick core of players present in the PSG squad.
With the likes of Angel di Maria, Lucas, Hervi Ongenda, Hatem Ben Arfa, Javier Pastore and now Julian Draxler, a first team role for Jese looks extremely difficult. To further add to that would be that the Spanish international is largely an unproven prospect at the highest level of football.
A wise decision would be a short stint in a decent club to get back his regular playing time and increase his goal tally. And since West Ham are planning to table a bid for the Spanish winger this January, Jese would be prudent to agree on a move to London.
