In a recent report, Tuttomercatoweb mentioned that West Ham United could attempt to re-sign Lazio winger Felipe Anderson. It has been stated that the Hammers are hoping to bring the Brazilian playmaker back to the London Stadium.
Anderson’s Decent Run Of Form In Serie A
Anderson is having a good campaign at the Italian club after he put in a series of impressive displays on the right side of their attack. The 30-year-old has scored one goal and secured six assists in 25 appearances for Lazio this season across all competitions.
The Brazilian sensation has been a positive influence in both halves based on his average of 1.7 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 1.1 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has also been accurate with his ball distribution after completing 77.5% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the Italian club will run out at the end of this campaign which could open the door for the Hammers to sign him on a cut-price deal this month.
Should West Ham United Boss David Moyes Bring Anderson Back This January?
Anderson is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range. He has also got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.
The Brazilian attacker is primarily a right-winger but can also operate as a left-sided wide player or play as a centre-forward down the middle if told to do so. He already knows West Ham well from his previous spell at the East London club and won’t take much time to adapt to life in the English capital. The South American talent could even help West Ham compete across all fronts over the next few years.
Therefore, it is only logical for the Hammers to go all out to bring Anderson back before the end of this winter transfer window. At 30, he might still have a few good seasons left in him to play at a high level. Thus, Moyes should focus on getting a deal done for him on the cheap this January as he would add more depth to their attack in the short term.
