Chelsea have officially launched a bid for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu. The Blues want him to fill the void left by Oscar.
The 22-year has been a long-term target for the Blues. Antonio Conte is not impressed with their performances from set pieces and corners. Calhanoglu is regarded as one of the most excellent dead ball specialist in Europe and has scored the most number of goals from indirect free kicks.
Chelsea got a huge £60m from the selling of Oscar to shanghai SIPG and Conte wants to use the cash in a bid to lure the midfielder. The Turkish playmaker has scored five goals in 16 appearances for Leverkusen this season but the team hasn’t really functioned as a unit which is why they are not in their usual top four spots.
The midfielder joined from Hamburg in 2014 and since then has netted 28 times and has 26 assists. Conte could face tough competition from Manchester United as the player recently expressed his desire to play for the English side one day.
