Mauricio Pochettino recently said that Marcelo Bielsa, a legendary coach from Argentina, was a huge influence on him as he learnt to be a coach. Now that he is the coach of Chelsea in the Premier League, he wants to continue learning and evolving his teaching technique. Pochettino has been at Chelsea for almost six months and has led the club to 10th place in the Premier League. On December 30th, they will take on Luton Town.
Mauricio Pochettino on Marcelo Bielsa
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is having a difficult time managing the team. He wants his players to think differently to become more consistent in the Premier League. After a bumpy start, he was happy with how they played and won 2-1 against Crystal Palace on Wednesday, making it their third consecutive home win. Chelsea got the winning goal from a penalty in the 89th minute, with Noni Madueke scoring it.
Mykhaylo Mudryk scored the first goal for The Blues, but Michael Olise scored for the other team just before halftime. VAR had to check when Eberechi Eze accidentally fouled substitute Madueke in the penalty area. The 21-year-old stayed calm and scored the penalty, earning three important points.
Mauricio Pochettino is nearing 15 years as a coach, and he shared with TNT Sports that he keeps changing and improving his coaching style as football evolves. He also talked about the big challenge he took on at Chelsea.
“Of course Marcelo [Bielsa] was a really important coach for me, but different coaches also were important to create my idea, my philosophy that I shared now with my coaching staff. We are a coaching staff that we are working [together] for 12-13 years; it’s our philosophy now, it’s not a ‘Mauricio’ philosophy,” Pochettino said.

“We really believe [in it], and we add our quality to create this philosophy. Of course we are open to evolve and to adapt to the new era, because football is changing. But also we are [here] to create different ways to play, different ways to approach the games. I think we are very creative and yes, always it’s our responsibility to keep improving, keep pushing, and try to be part of this sport that we love,” he added.
Chelsea is going to face Luton next in the PL after winning against Crystal Palace.
